Everest Region

Everest Region

everestThe Everest trekking in Nepal has gained its popularity for trekking, mountaineering, peak climbing and expedition. One must either walk for a week from Jiri or fly to Lukla to get near Everest. The number of trekkers to Everest has increased dramatically because of the publicity the mountain has received from several sources. Everest region is famous not only for its proximity to the world’s highest mountain, Mt. Everest (8848m.), but also for its Sherpa villages and age-old monasteries. The primary goal of trekking in Everest region is stepping at least the Everest Base Camp (5340m.).
It is the matter of fact that Mt. Everest cannot be observed from the base camp. So, most of the trekkers climb KalaPattar (5550m.) which is situated on the southern flank of Pumori (7145m.). Not only Everest but also other mountain peaks such as Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Amadablam, Mt. Pumori, Mt. Thamserku , Mt.Kantega, Kwangde and others can be seen from KalaPattar. Gokyo Ri is also the best view of Mt. Everest and others mountains.
Everest region offers varieties of trekking trails like- Everest Base Camp or KalaPattar Trek, Gokyo-Ri Trek,Jiri to everest base camp trekking, Gokyo Cho- La Pass Trek, Renjo La Pass Trek, Everest 3 High Pass Trek, Everest View Trekking or Tyangboche trekking etc. Along the trail, the travelers would experience the typical Sherpa culture in the alpine settlements such as Lukla, Phakding, Monjo, Namche Bazaar, Khumjung, Thame, Tyangboche, etc. Being situated at higher altitude, the region has high risk of Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) if due emphasis is not given for acclimatization. If symptoms like headache, loss appetite and vomiting are seen, one has to immediately inform to the guide so that he would facilitate to take first aid treatment or take you to the nearby health post or he will take you down to the lower altitude.

Annapurna Region

Annapurna Region

Annapurna is a Sanskrit name which literally means “full of food” (feminine form), but is normally translated as Goddess of the Harvests. In Hinduism,Annapurna is  “the universal and timeless kitchen-goddess the mother who feeds. Without her there is starvation, a universal fear: this makes Annapurna a universal goddess. Her most popular shrine is located in Kashi , on the banks of the river Ganga .” Her association with the giving of food (wealth) led her in time to be transformed into lakshmi, the Goddess of Wealth. The Annapurna Conservation Area is a well known trekking region. The entire massif and surrounding area are protected within the 7,629 km2 Annapurna Conservation Area, the first and largest conservation area in Nepal. The Annapurna Conservation Area is home to several world-class treks. There are many trekking routes in the Annapurna region: Jomsom and Muktinath Trek (increasingly disturbed by a road-building project) ;the Annapurna sanctuary trek (Annapurna base camp); and the Annapurna Circuit trek which circles the Annapurna Himal itself and includes the Jomsom route ,Ghandruk trek ,Tilicho lake or Mesokunda pass trek,Nar phu valley trek,Ghalegaon trek and Ghorepani Poonhill trek. The town of Pokhara and Besishahar usually serves as a starting point for these treks. The Mustang district, a former kingdom bordering Tibet, is also geographically a part of the Annapurna region, but treks to upper Mustang are subject to special restrictions.
About two-thirds of all trekkers in Nepal visit the Annapurna region. The area is easily accessible, guest houses in the hills are plentiful, and treks here offer incredibly diverse scenery, with both high mountains Annapurna I (8091m/26545ft),Annapurna II (7937m/26040ft),Annapurna III (7555m/24786ft),Annapurna IV(7455m/24688ft),Gangapurna (7455m/24457ft) and Annapurna South (7219m/23684ft),Machhapuchhre,Nilgiri and many others peaks and lowland villages. Also, because the entire area is inhabited, trekking in the region offers unique cultural exposure and experience.

Langtang Gosaikunda Tea House Trek

Langtang Gosaikunda Tea House Trek

The Langtang Gosaikunda trekking is easily accessible from Kathmandu. Langtang area in itself is a good choice for all trekkers. The Himalayan views overall are not quite as spectacular as in the Annapurna or Everest areas, but they remain unforgettably beautiful. In addition, the trails are less crowded and the people are friendly. The people are all Tamang, who is the ethnic group for this area. We can explore their culture and way of living.

Langtang National Park is crossed with hiking and trekking paths and mountaineering trails allowing visitor’s unparalleled accessibility. You will often see musk deer, Himalayan tahr, Himalayan black beer, now leopard, wild goat, Goral and more than 250 species of birds. The park is also renowned for its population of red panda.
A little further up the valley is Kyanjin Gompa, where we stop overnight and test the local yak cheese. We pass through Nubamatang, nestled in a hidden valley, on our way up to view the glaciers, which mark the gateway into Tilman‘s col, a high mountaineering route to Jugal Himal that crosses  a steep and difficult icefall on the south side . We also can hike to kyanjing Ri or Tsergo Ri(Cherko Ri) which offer spectacular views of Naya Kanga (5,846m) ,Ponggen Dopku (5,930m), Mt Langtang Lirung (7245m ), Yala peak , Dorje Lakpa(6966m), Urkeinmang (6387m), Loenpo Gang (6979) and Kangchenpo. Backtracking, we travel through Syabru village and SingGompa to a high plateau, where the sacred lake Gosainkund is located. Gosaikund Lake has a black rock in the middle, said to be the head of Shiva. according to legend , Shiva created this high altitude lake when he pierced a glacier with his trident (trisul) to obtain water to quench his thirst after consuming poison gathered from the churning of the oceans ( the poison is the reason why Shiva is depicted with a blue throat). There is a white rock under the water which is said to be the remnant of an ancient Shiva shrine. It is also said that the water from this lake disappears underground via a subterranean channel and surfaces in Kumbeshwar pool, next to the five-storey Shiva temple in Patan , more than 60km away. Thousands of people come here to worship and bathe during the full moon festival each august.  Crossing the Laurebena Pass (4610m), we continue south, leaving the Langtang region behind us as we travel through the Helambu valley. From here, it’s just a few days trek back to Kathmandu.

Helambu Circuit Trekking is 75km north from Kathmandu. The Helambu area is surprisingly peaceful and calm. The Sherpa villages of Helambu due north of Kathmandu valley presents an easy getaway. This area because of its low elevation and the Sherpa villages make it an interesting loop. This trekking is basically familiar for sherpa culture and life style.Starting with a short drive from Kathmandu to Sundarijal the trail to Chisapani and Helambu climbs on to th e Shivapuri ridge from where there are sweeping views of the central Himalayas. Following a ridge-line the trek heads north to Thare Pati before turning east to Melemchi Gaon and Tarke Gyang the principle villages of this area. You can take Helambu onto the end of the langtang or Gosaikunda trek, crossing into Helambu via the high altitude passes at Lauribina La (4610m) or Ganja La (5106m).

11 Days Helambu Circuit Trekking

ITINERARY

Day 01: Arrive in international airport in Kathmandu, transfer to selected hotel and rest of day personal activities.

Day 02: Kathmandu valley sightseeing

  • Swoyambunath (monkey) temple.
  • Kathmandu durbar square,
  • Pashupatinath temple,
  • Bouddhanath stupa

Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Sundarijal in the morning and Trek to Chisapani (2,194m, 4 hours walking) and then overnight at lodge.
This day, we drive to sundarijal (1350m.), a wide and obvious climbs up beside the enormous water pipe that supplies Kathmandu with drinking water from a reservoir inside Shivapuri National park. First stage of the trek climbs steeply to entry check post. Follow the sign posted trail uphill to the large Tamang village of Mulkharka. The trail continues to climb to reach the pass at Borlang Bhanjyang. The rest of day is the entire down hill through peaceful forests to Oak and rhododendron. Within the hour, you’ll reach a wide track running uphill to Chisapani. The mountains views are excellent from here.

Day o4: Trek from Chisapani to Golphu Banjyang (Gul Bhanjyang) (2140m. 5-6 hours walking) and then overnight at lodge.
As you leave Chisapani, the trail runs out of the village and continues level among pine plantations on the top of the spur. There are good mountain views as you leave the wide track and drop down into the valley on a muddy zigzagging path. The halfway down the slope, the trail reach the Brahman and chhetri village of Pati Bhanjyang (1770m.). The trail heads north out of the pathi Bhanjayang, a gentle ascent to a small white chorten at the sherpa village of Thakuni Bhanjyang. Climb steeply uphill past the lodge to meet a large trail, then bear right on crumbly stone steps to reach the much larger village of Chipling (2170m.) and then we reach Lapcha Danda. If the sky is clear, you’ll have good views of the peaks as you drop down through rhododendron forest on the far side of the pass. After Thotong (thodang Betini, a friendly tamang village), the path drops for another 30 minutes to tamang village of Golphu Bhanjyang. If it is clear morning, you can see good view of mountains.

Day 05Trek from Golphu Banjyang to Tharepati (3640m.). 7 hours walking) and then overnight at lodge.
This is the most dramatic stage of the trek, with the views that become increasingly epic as the day goes on. However, the climb is steep and sustained.  You’ll work up a sweat climbing the 1650m to Tharepati and then face a sudden chill once you encounter the icy winds at the pass. Starting from Golkhu Bhanjyang, climb the hill to Kutumsang(2450m). As you climb the Yurin Danda ridge, you see peaks above Langtang and Gosaikunda soar into view. About three hours after leaving Kutumsang, you’ll drop down to the appealing village of Magin Goth (Magen Goth). There are fabulous views from here to the rocky Thare Danda ridge, where a rugged trail climbs to Gosaikunda. After Magin Goth, it is a steep, two hours climb to reach the Tharepati village (3640m.). A steep path raises above the village to a fluttering white prayer flag on a mind swept hilltop, offering a perfect panaroma of the Langtang Himalaya.

Day 06: Trek from Tharepati to Melamchi Ghyang (2,743m, 4 hours walking) and then overnight at lodge.
Heading east from the Tharepati, the trail drops rapidly down the ridge, quickly losing those wonderful mountain views. The trail follows rhododendron forest and chortens. The last stage of the walk is an unforgiving drop on the almost vertical trail that will teach you meaning of the word “impact”. a long suspension bridge on the outskirts of Melamchi gaon. Melamchi feels like a teeming metropolies. As we as raising goats and cattle and tending fields of barley, corn and potatoes. Melamchi was founded in in 1859 by the head lama of bouddhnath stupa. In the center of the village has a large, renovated Gompa. It is nice village.

Day 07: Trek from Melamchi Ghyang to Tarke Ghyang (2,664m, 5 hours walking) and then overnight at lodge.
Heading on from Melamchi Ghyang, you have two options. Some trekkers descend directly to Thimbu and Kiul at the bottom of the valley. But it‘s more interesting to cross the river and climb to the atmospheric stone village of Tarke Ghyang. The trail is interesting. We walk through the forest and pass the large Chortens. The village takes its name from the huge, square ghyang (monastery) in the middle of the village. This is the oldest monastery in the Helambu region. Most of the people are Buddhist from village.

Day 08: Trek from Tarke Ghyang to Thimbu/Kiul (960m, 4 hours walking) and then overnight in Kathmandu.
To finish the Helambu circuit on the most popular path, pick up the sign posted trail to Thimbu. The trail drops gently along the east side of the valley, passing through broken rhododendron forest. Assorted chortens, shrines and mani walls provide visual interest as you drop to the sherpa village of Kakani at 2070m, which has another small Gompa. About three hours after leaving you’ll drop into Thimbu at 1580m. From here, we may able to take bus or Private Jeep to Kathmandu.
